St. George and St. Abraam Coptic Relief Organization (GACRO) was established in 1991 and is considered one of the oldest non-profit Coptic organizations on the Eastern Coast of the United States. The goal of this organization is to serve the poor and needy Christians in Egypt.
GACRO started out as an informal group of Coptic Christians who had immigrated to the United States from Egypt in the 1980's. These individuals wanted to continue providing assistance to the underserved Copts in their homeland. Through numerous trips to Egypt, meeting with bishops, priests, and church servants who aided the poorest villages, GACRO created a strong platform to serve under their leadership.
Our Mission
GACRO aims to raise contributions to provide financial support and assistance to indigent and low income Copts in Egypt. We seek to help the most vulnerable populations which also include orphans, widows, and the sick and chronically ill. Our services include distributing food and clothes to the underprivileged, providing shelter to religiously persecuted individuals, aiding poor couples who cannot afford marriage expenses, supporting students who need help paying tuition for school, and much more.
